The therapist utilizes their palms, elbows or fingers to apply pressure to specific points on the body. Traditionally, pain relief and improved function is believed to come about by loosening blockages to the flow of energy (chi) along specific pathways (meridians) within the body. While the exact mechanism is still not fully understood, decades of research have validated its effectiveness.
