Inner Circle Vestibular Therapy Center

Vestibular Therapy is an exercise-based treatment for people suffering from deficits of the central nervous system and/or inner ear. When the vestibular system is compromised by disease or injury, it can no longer rely on the information it receives; resulting in symptoms including dizziness, vertigo (spinning sensations) and balance problems. Many people can recover without assistance, as the brain compensates for these changes, but for those that cannot, Inner Circle offers help. The goal of Vestibular Therapy is to re-educate the brain to reorganize the signals it receives from its’ surroundings. Depending on the cause, or causes, of vestibular dysfunction, a program will be developed to meet your needs. Some of the possible diagnoses that we can assist with are:

  • Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV)
  • Meniere’s Disease
  • Mal de Debarquement
  • Labyrinthitis
  • Vestibular Neuritis
  • Vestibular Hyperacusis
  • Autoimmune Inner Ear Disease
  • Cholesteatoma
  • Ostosclerosis
  • Cervicogenic Disease
  • Aging/Balance Issues
  • Vestibular Migraine
  • Ototoxicity
  • Endolymphatic Hydrops

After a physician has diagnosed the dysfunction, the Physical Therapists at IC will evaluate the condition of your vestibular system. We will then develop a program for you to assist in improving your balance and decreasing your other vestibular symptoms. If you have problems with any of the listed issues, or are suffering from loss of balance and potential falls, Inner Circle can help.

Balance requires the combination of multiple systems of the body including occipital, positional, sense, inner ear/vestibular system, muscle strength, and imbalances in muscle tone. Having good balance requires all of these systems and is essential to being able to control and maintain your body’s position. When your balance systems are compromised, activities that used to be easy no longer are; such as walking, getting up from a chair, climbing stairs, bending without falling, and walking on uneven surfaces. Inner Circle can lower a person’s risk of injury by reducing or minimizing an individual’s risks of falls. To prevent falls, Inner Circle will focus on reducing risk by assessing:

  • Cholesteatoma
  • Ostosclerosis
  • Cervicogenic Disease
  • Aging/Balance Issues
  • Vestibular Migraine
  • Ototoxicity
  • Endolymphatic Hydrops

There are many risk factors associated with falls.
