Words of Wisdom: Part Two
Following the response to our newest series entitled, “Words of Wisdom,” (what some of us might start referring to as “The COVID Papers!”), we’d like to introduce the second article in the series by our resident Pelvic Health Specialist and Expert Myofascial Release Therapist, Jennifer Keeny.
As Jennifer does on a daily basis with her patients, this article broaches an important subject and provides valuable information about a problem that affects nearly every single woman that comes through our door. Unfortunately, due to the shame and embarrassment surrounding sex in our culture, these calls for help often go unanswered. They need not go unanswered any longer because, as we have said before, we’re with you every step of the way.

Have you ever had some discomfort or pain during intercourse at one time or another?
It’s okay, all women have. Whether it’s mild, position dependent, a lack of lubrication or due to an infection (yeast/UTI), many women have had painful intercourse at one time. A majority of women have painful intercourse most or all of the time and do nothing to address it. It’s not something they want to talk about, or they are embarrassed about it. Unfortunately, dyspareunia (dis-pa-run-nia) has long been thought to be only psychological or dismissed as “made up.” Being told “it’s in your head,” “it’ll go away,” or “just relax” are all too common stories.
