Man’s Best Friend…
As we promised in our post from last week announcing our slow, steady, and safe return to a full-time schedule, here is the start of a new set of articles designed to arm you with the information necessary to take back control of your life. To learn from our greatest, and hardest, teacher: PAIN; man’s original best friend!
Since we have all had our minds reeling at the changes that have occurred during the pandemic – and the fears that it has brought up in all of us – we’re going to dive in deep with an article that will help bring you back into your body, quiet your mind, and reacquaint you with our most trusted advisor and counselor: ourselves.
How many of us are in a seriously dysfunctional relationship with our bodies? We take and take from the body until it has nothing left to give. Then, when it finally cries out in anguish, we yell at it and tell it that it’s no good; that it’s broken. What if we were doing this with our partner, our husband, our wife, our friend, our child? Pretty messed up, right?
So, like any good relationship, the way back can be found through communication. In this installment of Inner Circle Insights, we’re going to take you on a journey that will help you start listening to your body – start taking the time to give it what it needs – so that it can give you the rest of your life.
Myofascial Release therapists, like all of us here at Inner Circle, have many aphorisms that help us focus on the important aspects of the work and that help us communicate these deep truths to all of you. I’m going to leave you with two of them to reflect on. After you read each one, I would ask you to close your eyes, take a deep breath and, as you exhale, feel your body soften and melt. Then ask yourself mentally, without needing an immediate response: what does this mean for me?
- Myofascial Release is NOT about feeling better. It’s about getting BETTER at FEELING.
- The inner journey is NOT the most important journey. It’s the ONLY journey.
As always, we are here to answer any questions or concerns you have. We’re with you every step of the way. Please enjoy this installment of Inner Circle Insights, “Unpacking Your Pain.”
